Ghana 50 Lock Down Day 2

49 posts and adding this the day before April fools day. Well I had almost given up writing and found myself just thinking one day I'll get back to it. Whow last couple of months been quire a roller coaster. And yet could not sum up the energy or interest to write.

What with work on go slow and now the Corona Virus.  I found myself  sitting with Wanna whats best, should she deciding to go home and stay with Mum and Dad and leave me here or wait and see what transpires. She made the right choice and left for home.  Two later airport was closed.  That was 2 weeks ago and now here i am at home. Well isolation in my Condo.  Ghana government passed a decree that starting 01.00 am this last on Monday morning no movement of people between districts etc. Not an absolute no go everywhere but good enough for me to want to stay in. Site work cancelled and its strange how you adapt. Genevieve already in lock-down in London, Simon my nephew caught the bug in Singapore and stayed for weeks in hospital. Sarah in Seychelles running out and about, abet the kids are off school.

Me confined to my place and doing work through the internet. Amazing what you can achieve.  Technology.  Think about it.  There I am sitting in West Africa talking and video conferencing guys in France, Germany, South Africa etc. Quite something. I image more of this is going to happen as  time goes on... In fact I suspect it will become the norm.

I decided on the first day to make and effort with some discipline.  Get up time and SHOWER.  Yes correct, not get up drink coffee, scratch myself and then turn on the TV. And maybe later in the day put some shorts on etc. Me in my wrap round towel not a pretty sight I can assure you.

The streets are almost empty and there is a strong wind.  Whats is really noticeable is how clean the air has become.  Street dust seems to have disappeared.

Its sunny and about 32Deg. So early morning swim is the way forward.  More a wallow and going  slowly up and down a couple of times but it does feels good. Followed by a shower etc and a simple breakfast. All before 7.30am. Then call family on Watts app.  Another great invention. Can even have three way conversations. Clever....

Then I have to turn to work, emails etc till round lunchtime. Have to try hard not to stop early for food. Always a temptation when it is in line of sight !!!!!

This I am telling myself is already turning into a good routine and I'm only on day 2.

Talking of time I'm due my afternoon tea. Another bigger temptation is to catch up with a colleague who lives in my building in a condo a couple of floors up.  Catch up is a euphemism for drinking cold beers and chatting !!!!

Is that him at the door ?  Must go.......

Ghana 49 How Time Flys

One of my main themes in each post is to say how time flys and I do not add in anything really interesting. Just waffle on about next time. And time has flown. Been February since my last post. And again next time... Who knows when.

Well..... decided I do need a theme to focus upon, and it will not be 'how time flys by'....  I'm considering doing a few things on 'living in' Ghana and the sights and sounds of the streets and country. So much here that I take for granted as I see it every day. So... how to proceed.  Best to set up a new blog dedicated to life in Ghana ?

Covering....

Places, customs, people, travel, and general different facts and figures about Ghana, and advice please.

I'll let this hang here for a week and see if anyone makes a statement or comment. Probably not as my posts have recently been so boring or non existent….. :-(

Chao....

Ghana 48 Relaxing again.................

Another Sunday on the beach.  Very relaxing. Had some fresh prawns bough from the ladies on the beach. So easy to rent a shed. Its clean and has seats and tables. Toilet is the side of the tree round the back !!!

The chap we rent form, he brings along the Bar B Q and charcoal. And all we bring is a boom box, cold beer and some food stuffs.

Wanna had done some fried rice and salads. We even ended up melting marshmallows.  I was put in charge of the music.  SO lots of old memory lane stuff off YouTube..... Had not done that since I was a kid.

Great time had by all.🍷

What to buy ?

Almost had the beach to ourselves....  BTW the eggs she is selling are hard boiled. She sells them with a small chili salad. She shells the egg and cuts it through then puts in the salad. Amazingly good. You also see these for sale along the road side and especially at the traffic lights.

On the way, they  have finished selling to us.... :-)🐡

This time they are selling fresh coconut juice.

My lady getting in the mood.

Checking the grill.

Wine working well.

Ghana 47 School Kids visit to site.

Had a fun morning yesterday. We invited about 30 of the local school kids with their teachers for a trip to our construction site.  They were so full of excitement and together with their teachers it was a really wonderful couple of hours.  They went to see the construction works out at the sea front, then back to our conference room for quick chit chat.  We handed out a few presents comprising school note books, and pencils and of course some sweets.  In additional we gave them all a individually named certificate to each and everyone of them confirming they had attended our site. Amazing excitement. Out site team excelled themselves.

All this was topped off with one of the girls saying a thank you prayer afterwards.  All quite an amazing morning.  Feel pretty good about it. What a team.

Ghana Community Project 01 Part 04 Aquaponics ICB Tank 🐠

Kids and teachers still happy with our efforts and I am pleased to report solar panel still going strong....  Seedling are beginning to grow.  Unless something really exciting happens on this project I'll stop reporting as it is so similar to my aquaponic posts.  Its just a really good feeling to be able to help the schools and get something done for them... Looking back on life I do not think I have given a lot back.  Been easy to take, but giving,  whole new concept......  :-)
