Joys of Cheap Shopping

Went out last evening in the local shopping mall to buy a few things.

Passing one of the many little computer accessories stalls I notices a box full of small USB phone charges. How much I asked? These ones are  Baht 80. That's about GBP 1.60. Bargain. Done deal. So off I went home to plug in my new "value for money" All excited thinking "Couldn't get this as cheap in UK etc etc".
Well plugged in and went to put on the music and have a cuppa. When suddenly a loud BANG from the bedroom. You guessed exactly where I had plugged in the "value for money" USB adapter.

All the lights went out, no power, everything off. Pitch black. On with the torch and after isolating the socket put the lights back on. This is what I saw.

House stuff

Being getting things done and decided to clean up some old electrical wiring. A small corner of the house has electrical wiring which has been on out house for years. Looks more like spaghetti than anything else. Two shots showing the before before and after doing some major surgery. Interestingly nothing has changed in terms of what works in the house....

I'll let you decide which one is the old and which one the later.

Electrics Thai Style

Saturday morning was spent in town time spend part shopping, part relaxing in a new 'smooth' coffee shop. Complete with a retro type scooter installed on a small podium. Looked good but doubt it still worked. Reminded me to some extent of a Hard Rock set up. Except the music was turned down and the coffee excellent as was the tuna sandwich. Yes I do eat the occasional 'English' type food but I did have to order a side dish of chili sauce to go with it! Would have tasted awfully flat otherwise.

But it was the view outside that really made me smile. The electric wiring. How anyone could work out which bit went where was beyond my comprehension. But it did make for an interesting coffee table discussion. As you can see from the expression on Owen's face it is all rather confusing! Or was it just the last night catching up with him?...
