Gardening.....

All been very quiet. Been working and time has just flown by. Here in Gladstone going to work early and getting back late does not leave much time to do much else.
However this coming weekend is the Mr Larcom Annual Agricultural Show. Going on Sunday. Should be good. So excitement over last few days is to report on our hydroponic system. All going well and things are growing fast....Plenty of Lettuce, Rocket and some herbs, thyme etc and a few Thai ones who’s names escape me.

Pool Night, Gladstone

Last night we decided to vist the local 'Young Australian Hotel' a popular watering hole. Reason for going there was to see Jack Halligian a famous Australian pool player who was giving an exhibition display. He showed amonst others, one really good trick. Layed out a deck of cards and then let someone choose from a seperate deck. He then split the 'frame' and under the black ball was the selected card. Yet to figure how he did it.

He seemed to be enjoying himself taking on all comers. I did not get there early enough to get my name on the board. However I did fancy my chances againest some of the opposition. Main advantage I appeared to have over them was we arrived late, and most of the lads appeared to have been on the juice for a good few hours already....

Jack came over to have a chat with us and signed the back of Wannas shirt. not the front!!!! He seemed a really good bloke. Lots of fun.

being there made me realise, I miss my weekly pool nights back in the Chill Bar at Nam Phab Whan. All good fun.

Dinners

Always interesting how things come together. The other night we had been invited out to dinner. It was a bit like the United Nations. There were a couple from South Africa, Canadian married to a South Korean, Australians, Brits and Thai. All sitting down to a Korean cook up followed by some good old fashioned homemade caked and double cream.... All in all a very good way to spend an evening.

Difficult to follow in terms of a dinner. Last night we have a small Bar B Q of our own. Wanna got stuck into the prawns.
Now its back to work...

Sunday Bar B Q And The Prime Minister

I mentioned last posting about the Prime Minister being on our Construction site. Well l’ve located the photos. She’s the little on with ginger hair!!!! Unfortunately my photo shows her looking away. But believe me it was her!

Last Sunday we went to an old dilapidated garden and collected oranges. Followed by a picnic. Excellent.

Yesterday more food. We had been out buying a few small plants and then last night settled in for a Bar B Q using our new toy. Great way to cook. It uses any old wood we can find. And living next to a forest makes it a very simple job.

Also we seem to have been adopted by a large black and white bird. I’ll check the name this evening. He flies in and stays around. In fact I nipped home the other lunch time and he was about. He did not seem to mind me walking close to him and he was in no hurry to fly off.
